Terri Perkins "Bluebells"

This photo was taken with my Nikon D90 in my front yard. Aperture Priority, f/6.3, ISO-1000.

I wanted to emphasise the color blue by using the blue sky as the background color against the blue flowers. I tried to capture the bluebell in the upper left third of the photo as the focal point. I believe the histogram had a spike up the middle but I forgot to check it again before downloading the photo... oops!

I would probably compose this shot differently next time with a longer focal length --higher f/stop. The rain started falling after I took this shot so my experimentation session ended too soon!

Lindie “Piano Keys”

I took this picture in low indoor light at 400 ISO, F 3.1, 1/4 shutter speed, and on macro.

Mike McMahon - Coin

I took this picture to show aperture, you can see that the focal point is at the edge of the coin, and is out of focus half way up the coin. ISO 400, F2.8, 1/25 shutter speed.I had to use flashlights to light the edge of the coin since the lens blocked the ambient light.

Hollie Graham "New Life"

I took this picture up in Seattle at the Butterfly Expo in the Pacific Science Center. I could have spent the whole day there, following these beautiful creatures around. I used f/8 with an ISO of 800 and +1/3 exposure. I ended up over exposing and had to edit later.

Robbi Houser "the oak tree"

This oak tree is right accross from my house, and i love it.. but i still havn't quite figured out how to capture it. This was taken at about 730 in the evening, losing light pretty fast. Set at an F5, and an ISO of 400. I want to go back and bend down the grass in the front (that somehow i didn't notice) and focus more on the purple flowers in the background...

Heather Olsen - Apple Blossoms

I took this picture at f/5.6 and the ISO at 800 with the flash on. It was about 7:30 at night and getting darker when I saw how interesting the blossoms looked in the rain. I loved that you could look at the picture and see the raindrops on the blossoms so clearly. The histogram shows a spike in the darker tones. I would next time look more closely at the histogram and try to work more on the lighting. This picture was taken at my house.

Kathryn Kramer "On The Road"

Was trying to get a more blurred background. The ISO @ 100; 1/50 Shutter and F 11. The histogram Spiked in the middle and a little on both ends to about 1/2 up grid. The vehicle I was traveling in is going 28 mph while truck was going about 25 mph. Would like to know how to get a more blurred background & keep truck in focus! 1st time doing this!

Heather - tree rings

Playtime

I would not usually take a photo of a skateboard. Since I'm always moving it out of my way to pull in the garage, it caught my eye. I like the colorful shapes & lines. Shot at F6.3, 1/40 shutter speed, ISO 500, 105 mm . Histograham mostly even with a little more highlights to the left. Diana Delgado

Tricia Rapozo - Chester

f/6.3 ISO 1250. This was taken in my backyard, my cat decided to actually have a still moment. I decided to use a lower f/stop because he's sitting in gravel and I thought he would stand out more if the background was out of focus. The ISO was what came up automatically when I set the f/stop. I liked this setting best after playing around with a few others. What I would do differently is get lower to the ground so I'm looking at eye to eye.

Donna Wright a good ride

Spring

f5.7; ISO 200. I was experimenting and ended up liking this one.

April Karreci - Little Miss Procession

Procession of the Species, she was too cute! FS 5.6, ISO 200.
